With the recovery of the oil and gas sector beginning to filter through, industry has embraced new methods of working and taken cost efficiency to a whole new level. As a leaner, smarter and more efficient sector, we are well placed to take advantage of the opportunities which are now picking up momentum.

Indeed, many of these opportunities have enabled companies to branch out into complementary sectors such as renewables, securing diverse revenue streams and strengthening their business capability.

Throughout this period we have seen the continued innovation and ingenuity for which the UK subsea sector is world renowned, with advances in technology furthering us down the path of automation, embracing digitalisation and other transformational technologies which may well revolutionise the industry as we know it.

The UK will play a crucial role in this future, and investment in new technologies is key to our success.

Oil & gas and renewables markets remain a focus both at home and abroad, and now that market confidence is returning, activity has strengthened, though there is still more work to be done. The offshore wind sector, for example, has been experiencing significant growth and similar cost challenges.

This year, Subsea Expo will explore the challenges ahead for the underwater sectors and debate how to solve them. As ever, the conference provides an ideal platform to showcase the latest solutions and technologies in order to take them to market.
