Alba RIG™ Reduces Test Time Increasing Safety, And Savings For Operators

With its patented technology, Alba’s Rapid Integrity Gasket (RIG) is transforming leak testing into a faster, simpler and more cost-effective process.
The main purpose of the Alba-RIG™ is to allow users to confirm that joint integrity has been attained during the installation phase. This is achieved via the completion of an external pressure test out with the perimeter of the flange.
The Alba RIGTM compliments conventional leak testing methods. Unlike traditional methods that often require full system pressure tests, the Alba-RIG™ allows operators to test individual joints quickly and independently. This approach delivers a safer, more efficient route to project completion and gives operators peace of mind that every joint is properly validated.
Designed and manufactured in-house at Alba’s facility in Aberdeen, Scotland, the Alba-RIG™ has been successful utilised in some of the harshest and most unpredictable environments in the North Sea. Using hydraulic or nitrogen testing, the Alba-RIG™ confirms correct gasket installation on flange connections in a matter of minutes. It is suitable for both topside and subsea applications and available in sizes ranging from ½” to 60” and pressure classes from 150-2500lb.
Proven in the Field
The Alba-RIGTM is trusted worldwide. To date, it has been deployed in over 40 countries and installed on more than 100 global assets across the energy sector. Its success in the field continues to demonstrate the clear advantages of this innovative solution.
In one recent project a major end user wished to accelerate leak testing and avoid the need for witness joints in areas that were difficult to access. The Alba-RIGTM was supplied to meet these requirements. The installation process was straightforward, and each test was completed in around 30 minutes with no reported issues on site.
The clients commissioning engineer involved in the project highlighted the benefits:
