DESTEC - Making & Maintaining the Right Connection

Destec is synonymous with innovation engineering high quality connectors for the oil & gas industry.

Destec has been in business for 49 years and still a family owned company run by the same director who founded the company. But Destec has kept a low profile for many years, even though the Destec service team has been providing the UK power stations and offshore platforms machining and maintenance for many years, and Destec are now expanding to new areas & Industry. Destec also holds major supply contracts with some of the biggest companies in the world like ExxonMobil, BP, Chevron, Shell, EDF, BAE Systems and many more throughout the world, even winning the regional Exporter of the year award for 2017.

The Engineers at Destec are coming up with new ideas for the subsea connections as the market becomes more innovated and complicated. The first GSB Single bolt clamp that Destec sold into the market was in 1984 and still to this day it is in service in the North Sea, showing the quality that Destec achieves. All the products are fully traceable, manufactured and inspected at Destec’s Factory in Lincoln, Lincolnshire; this gives Destec a greater control over the products. The latest Destec product is the Desflex Misalignment Ball Flange Connector which ranges from 4″ to 24″ with a 1500lb rating, this product is used when there is a misalignment in the pipeline, it also has a swivel flange for bolt hole alignment and will mate with a standard Destec Compact Flange.

Destec have had to put more investment into the Lincoln Factory recently to keep up with the demand of their product, over 800K was spent in 2017 on new CNC machines and the latest is their Doosan Puma with a 2.5 M bed. Late into 2018 Destec will again look to invest in larger connectors, cables & umbilicals destec - making & maintaining the right co nnectio n machines and more portable service machines to keep the factory modern and to give the service team more capabilities for onsite service.

In addition to the work in Iraq in 2017, Destec have also been extremely busy with Onsite Machining & Bolt Torque Tensioning work in Holland, America & Asia last year and it looks like it will carry on throughout 2018.
