NEWPARK RECEIVES SHELL SUPPLIER AWARD
Oil and gas leader honors company for exceptional service and technology on challenging terrain.
Royal Dutch Shell (Shell) honored Newpark Fluids Systems with its 2018 Global Wells Services Award for Suppliers with operational hours less than 100,000. The company was recognized for its health, safety and environment (HSE) and leadership practices executed in Albania.
Newpark assisted Shell with formations that are historically difficult to manage, provided waste management and water treatment including reverse osmosis. Newpark provided quality service both on-site and remotely with its technical field and office support in Albania, as well as additional lab and technical support from Houston, Texas.
“Throughout our longstanding partnership, Newpark has consistently demonstrated effective leadership, management support and technical responsibility both on- and-offsite,” said Michael DeWitt, Vice President of Wells Upstream at Shell. “We turned to Newpark for this project in Albania due to the company’s track record of success and experience in the area. Shell congratulates Newpark for earning the award and commends the Newpark team for achieving incident-free, safe operations.”
Annually, Shell recognizes suppliers for three awards. For the 2018 Wells Services Award for Suppliers with Operating Hours less than 100,000, Newpark was commended for its superior management and site leadership, demonstration of exceptional barrier ownership principles, responsiveness in incident follow ups, openness to feedback and positive attitude and participation in Shell’s Assist and Assure program. “The Newpark team is honored to receive the Wells Services Award from Shell. The goal for this project was to assist Shell in overcoming challenges presented at this site with great safety and efficiency. For example, the well formations provided for difficulty in maintaining wellbore stability, and the remote location posed issues with waste handling due to the site’s limited access.” said Tim Armand, President, North America, Newpark Drilling Fluids. “Ultimately, Newpark was thrilled to tackle this challenge with the utmost quality service and technical support and looks forward to future cooperation with Shell.”
In addition to the companies’ cooperation in Albania, Shell has enlisted Newpark’s support with multiple projects in the Gulf of Mexico, which also require strict operating parameters. Attendees at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) (May 6-9, 2019; NRG Park, Houston, Texas) can learn more about Newpark’s capabilities by visiting booth (#105).
