Trelleborg Support Operators XploR™ Deeper Waters with Latest Seal Designs

As oil and gas industry operators continue to extract oil from increasingly deeper waters, conditions for seals within downhole equipment become more extreme. In addition to harsh chemical attack from production fluids, the materials and designs must now withstand even higher pressures and temperatures. Recently entering the market are two new seals in a material formulated specifically for oil and gas industry applications, designed for not only downhole tools, but also to provide improvements to products found in any static or slow dynamic oilfield sealing scenario. XploR™ S-Seal and XploR™ FS-Seal from Trelleborg Sealing Solutions are customengineered seals that combine the benefits of in

Lokring – for when you need a better connection

Lokring fittings offer a permanent, metal to metal, leak free connection that joins two pieces of pipe or tube together to the same standard as a buttweld without the need for hot work. A Lokring installation is a fraction of the cost of a weld and generally takes 15 minutes to install. We have helped hundreds of companies in many industries save time and money in constructing and repairing process pipework. A prime example of this is how Lokring fittings have replaced welded joints on all level one safety critical applications on the Astute Class Nuclear Submarines, with over 7,500 fittings installed by BAE systems on each vessel. Lokring fittings have proven use as a repair method in subse

Tracerco Secures Large Flooded Member Inspection (FMI) Project in the Caribbean

Tracerco, part of Johnson Matthey Plc, has recently been awarded a large-scale project to verify the integrity of multiple platform members in the Caribbean sea. Via the use of a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), the Tracerco™ Diagnostics Flooded Member Inspection will provide an 100% accurate and reliable method of identifying the presence of any flooding in multiple vertical, horizontal and angled members, without the need to remove any marine growth or specialist coatings. Over the course of the 25-day inspection project, Tracerco’s experienced subsea engineers will provide an immediate assessment of the degree of flooding for each member surveyed, before providing a full report of platfor

Historic Milestone for Industry Standard OTAQ OceanSENSE

OceanSENSE, the industry standard subsea leak and cement returns detection system, has reached a historic milestone with over 50,000 offshore days achieved! OceanSENSE passed the 50,000 days mark on a recent offshore project with global subsea leader Oceaneering International. An early adopter of OceanSENSE in its cement returns detecting role, it’s fitting that Oceaneering take OceanSENSE over the 50,000 offshore days mark. First released to market in 2009, the system has gone from strength to strength, cementing its position as the global industry standard equipment for offshore dye detection operations. OceanSENSE has achieved the 50,000 offshore days mark due to its hard-won reputation a

RSS Welcomes Crosby Rigging Trailer to Super Sewer Project

Rope and Sling Specialists Ltd. (RSS) joined end users at the Thames Tideway Tunnel project to welcome Crosby’s Rig Safe Rig Smart European Trailer to the super sewer site in London early in July. UK- and Europe-based end users of Crosby equipment can request visits from the trailer, a purpose-built vehicle based on the popularity of a pair of Ford Ranger trucks that have been converted for a similar purpose in the USA. It is equipped with a fleet of lifting and rigging products, including a 500kg capacity electric crane, which allows a trainer to demonstrate the effect of using slings at angles of 30, 45 and 60 degrees from the vertical, recording the increased loads on load cells. Cygnus UT FMD Continues to Impress the Offshore Inspection Industry

Flooded Member Detection is an inspection regime designed to screen subsea platform structural members for defects. A cracked weld, for example, can allow the ingress of sea water into the member which may go on to create a point of failure for the structure. Operators therefore inspect these members on a regular basis to gain confidence that there has been no sea water ingress. The Cygnus ultrasonic Flooded Member Detection (FMD) system is a rugged, simple to use solution for detecting the presence of water in offshore members. It is the only product of its kind available on the market that is designed and manufactured by a dedicated, ultrasonic NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) specialist. Whe
