Glamox LED lighting to the world’s largest FPSO contractor

Glamox has recently supplied a complete lighting package to a new floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO) that will operate off the coast of Brazil. The FPSO is constructed and operated by Modec, one of the largest FPSO contractors in the world.
"Cidade de Campos dos Goytacazes MV 29" is owned and operated by Modec on behalf of the Brazilian oil major Petrobras. The FPSO will operate off the cost of Rio de Janeiro.
Glamox Far East in Singapore has supplied more than 1800 LED luminaires to the FPSO, with a product range from downlights (DL60) to explosion proof products like the FX60 floodlights and MAX LED. LED lighting systems ensures a long lifetime, and reduced maintenances which are valuable features for the FPSO that is expected to stay be deployed offshore for more than 20 years.
LED downlights
The DL60 LED downlights are designed to provide maximum light quality with better colour rendering than fluorescent and halogen lighting. All DL60 components are custom engineered to work optimally together in order to provide maximum light output and minimum glare. The downlights are easy to install and are characterised by a long service life at high ambient temperatures (50,000 hours at 45°C) and low power consumption. The DL60 is supplied with driver and light source and is available in a wide range of trims and decors.
Explosion-proof LED floodlights and luminaires
The FX60 series of Ex d LED floodlights are designed for a long lifetime and high efficiency without any maintenance. The Ex d module of the floodlight has no flame path and the connection box is Ex e approved. LED gives instant light and the floodlight is immune against voltage drops. The special design of seawater-resistant aluminium anodised module housing ensures excellent cooling. Mounting frame and bracket are made from stainless steel. The FX60 series are available with international and regional Ex certifications such as IECEx, ATEX, Inmetro, CSA and TRUC.
MAX LED is an Ex e high quality series of LED luminaires for mounting indoors or outdoors in Zone 1 or Zone 2 hazardous areas. The luminaire is specially designed for long lifetime and reduced maintenance. LEDs are driven by an inrush-free integrated circuit driver. The luminaire has a hinged gear tray for easy access.
FPSO
Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels, or FPSOs, are offshore production facilities that house both processing equipment and storage for produced hydrocarbons. As opposed to oil drilling platforms a FPSO is not attached to the sea floor. The basic design of most FPSOs encompasses a ship-shaped vessel, with processing equipment, or topsides, aboard the vessel's deck and hydrocarbon storage below in the double hull. After processing, an FPSO stores oil or gas before offloading periodically to shuttle tankers or transmitting processed petroleum via pipelines.
