Air Pressure Alarm From Link Instruments Improves Commercial Diving Safety
Designed to meet international safety guidelines for the supply of breathing air, a new air pressure alarm has been developed by Link Instruments for commercial diving and confined space operations.
The unit can monitor air supplies for up to three divers, and is normally used for monitoring the pressure of the outgoing supply. However, by changing the pressure transducers the same unit can be used for both high and low pressure monitoring.
It can be built into new systems or retrofitted into existing ones to provide an audio-visual warning. This gives the supervisor/operator the additional safety benefits of making existing diving panels conform to the IMCA international code of practice for offshore diving.
On start up an automatic self check tests for faults such as poor connections, and if a fault is detected the orange light illuminates. If the system is working and pressure is normal the green light will illuminate. A drop in air pressure below the set trigger point turns on the red light and the loud audible alarm will sound (this can be muted).
“The unit is easy to operate with its large chunky switches and warning lights which are appreciated in the commercial diving sector,” said Link Instruments’ Dominique Christie.
Housed in a rugged aluminium enclosure, the unit is powered by an external 12V supply from a battery or the supplied mains adaptor.
