Energy producer and provider Total has extended its contract with innovative software business Arnlea to the end of 2022.

The value of the contract, with Total’s SCOT (supply chain & operations tracking) project, is in the region of £4m.

The new agreement will see Total continue to deploy Arnlea’s industrial mobile software solution Intrinsix MM (materials management), which is already being used by the operator across a number of international energy regions.

Total uses Intrinsix MM for inventory and logistics across operations in the UK, Abu Dhabi, Angola, Gabon and Nigeria. The Intrinsix product involves the use of technology – including handheld devices – to enable the receipt, management and relocation of inventory, the visibility and traceability of equipment in logistics activities and the history and condition of assets.

Allan Merritt, Managing Director at Arnlea, (pictured) said: “We’re delighted to have secured another long-term contract with Total for a software product that is proven to have efficiency benefits in terms of cost and time.”

Intrinsix uses industrial mobile technology such as IIoT (industrial internet of things), RFID (radio-frequency identification), barcodes, tablets and smartphones to digitally transform client operations. The product – as with other Arnlea solutions – can operate standalone or integrated with a client’s corporate systems.

Arnlea primarily works with clients in the oil and gas industry but its products are used in other sectors, including pharmaceutical and food and drink. Arnlea products have been deployed in more than 50 different locations worldwide.

One of its most successful products is Intrinsix EX. It is recognised as a leader in the oil and gas industry for inspection and maintenance work. The product plays a central role in helping companies to comply with ATEX industry regulations and IEC 60079 standards as part of the management of hazardous areas and equipment. Arnlea has specific modules of Intrinsix for inspection and maintenance out with hazardous environments.

Aberdeen-based Arnlea has invested more than £2m in its product development in the past four years. The company has a team of 30.
