Those drilling experts Merlin ERD Ltd, have done it again, attracting further exceptional engineers to work at the HQ in Perth, Scotland. Stewart McGregor is the latest Extended Reach Drilling expert to join this double Queen’s Award winning team.
Merlin are a huge success story unlocking hydrocarbon reserves previously deemed uneconomic and slashing drilling costs with their innovative approach and technologies. “Great people are everything and our efforts to protect our technical team through the downturn, when others cast their staff aside is being rewarded with record growth including contract wins in Australia, Germany, Holland, Asia, Canada, Norway, the UK and the Middle East” notes Iain Hutchison, Managing Director “Stewart will be a key part of our ambitious growth and our AI / digital drilling optimisation targets.”
With over 20 years’ drilling experience, Stewart is experienced in a range of roles that demonstrates his versatility as an engineer, manager and drilling advisor. Previously a Group Drilling Manager at an Oil Company in Geneva, Stewart has lived and worked in Austria, Thailand and Australia, his global experience in complex wells and digital technologies are ideal for the team.

Relocating to Perthshire from Geneva with his wife and their 2 children, Stewart commented “I’ve been watching Merlin for some time as they’ve risen to become industry leaders in Extended Reach Drilling.
