NEW SPRING DATES ANNOUNCED FOR SNOW HIT SOUTHERN NORTH SEA EVENT SNS2018
The biggest energy exhibition and conference in the east of England, which fell victim to heavy snow and treacherous travel conditions recently, will be re-run in May 2018.
Directors of the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR) voted unanimously to stage the annual two-day event that focuses on the Southern North Sea, SNS2018, again on May 16 and 17 2018 at the Norfolk Showground, it was recently announced.
More than 1,200 delegates from around the UK and overseas had booked to attend the event, themed Collaboration, Innovation and Rejuvenation, on February 28 and March 1, when the Beast from the East hit, forcing the decision to cancel the programme in the interests of safety.
Feedback from speakers, sponsors and exhibitors from the original event had been overwhelmingly supportive to run the event again this year, EEEGR said.
Simon Gray, EEEGR Chief Executive, said: “Our SNS conferences and exhibitions are the biggest annual events for the energy industry in our region, with our unique mix of oil & gas, offshore wind and nuclear, and an important fixture on the energy sector annual calendar in the UK and overseas."
“It is the arena where business is done. Opportunities are revealed for the supply chain and business plans are forged from the content of stage speakers, who forecast and preview what is coming up in the Southern North Sea, from Tier One companies, industry leaders to large contractors."
“The support we received through calls and social media asking us to re run the event demonstrated that no one wanted this year to pass without an SNS event, so directors have taken that positive feedback and unanimously agreed to push ahead with a re-run on May 16 and 17."
“The event will be run on the same basis as before, with bookings for sponsorship packages, exhibition stands, delegate passes and dinner places automatically transferred to the rerun event.”
The original sponsors, speaker schedule and line-up of exhibitors would be maintained as much as possible, Mr Gray said. ScottishPower Renewables is EEEGR’s platinum sponsor.
“It takes the best part of a year to organise SNS. There was so much disappointment, from our team, our members, industry leaders, sponsors, delegates and exhibitors, which has led to such a positive force to push forward for the May dates, we are delighted.”
EEEGR’s executive team will be contacting sponsors, exhibitors, delegates and paid dinner bookings to re-confirm their bookings this week, he said. “News about the new SNS2018 will be issued in coming weeks.” Staging SNS2018 in May means that the annual EEEGR Awards will move from May 31 to June 12th.
