Teesside Company Secures an Additional Contract on the TengizChevrOil Project
One of the UK’s leading product manufacturer and global supplier of fire, blast and heat hazard solutions - Mech-Tool Engineering Ltd (MTE) - has successfully secured a contract to deliver seven Remote Instrument Enclosures (RIE’s) to one of the world’s largest oil and gas production projects.
And the contract comes on the back of the Teesside based company already successfully securing – and well underway in delivering - its largest contract to date, worth £37m, on the TengizChevrOil project, located six miles east of the Caspian Sea.
With both contracts awarded by Wood Group Mustang, the new project will see MTE provide its world leading solutions as part of a full turnkey project which will include providing design and engineering expertise right through to onsite installation of the seven RIE’s. This is in addition to the company providing a field operations office module and twenty-one RIE modules.
The company believe that with its extensive experience of delivering projects of this nature on a global scale, its early involvement in the design evaluation stage of the project will lead to greater optimization with the client benefitting from weight and time savings.
Speaking about the new contract win, Anthony Jones, Managing Director at MTE said: “We are delighted to have secured this additional contract win with Wood Group Mustang. We have been working with the company very closely on our latest project over the past six months or so, and securing this new contract is true testament that we are performing extremely well against high expectations, and as such, we are already delivering the first contract on schedule and within budget.
“As one of the largest oil fields in the world, the key to ensuring the TengizChevrOil project is successful is collaboration in order to facilitate engineering excellence at all stages of the project. As part of our long-standing relationship with Wood Group Mustang, we will work closely with the company as an extension of their team to deliver the most optimum and bespoke solutions that meet industry standards.”
The company will deliver RIE’s that will have high security levels and operate in extremely harsh environments, with ambient temperatures ranging from -36°C to +50°C. The modules will provide the requisite seismic resistance related to the area with a minimum design life of 20 years.
The Tengiz field in Western Kazakhstan - discovered in 1979 - is now one of the world's deepest producing super giant fields. Tengiz reservoir measures 19 kilometers wide by 21 kilometers long. Estimated original oil in place in the drilled and undrilled portions of Tengiz field is estimated to be approximately three billion metric tonnes producing 26 billion barrels.
MTE has recently been recognized as an approved manufacturer of CE compliant products and will now will now be authorized to attach CE markings to its leading range of globally recognised steel and aluminum protection products. This will allow the business to bid for new work across Europe in markets that the business has already well established itself, including nuclear, renewable and power generation.
Established in 1969, MTE has UK offices and manufacturing facilities in Darlington and Middleborough, Aberdeen and global offices in, Houston, UAE, Malaysia and India with fabrication facilities (MTK) in South Korea. The company has four distinct business units; Design Consultancy, Fire and Blast, Modular Solutions and HVAC solutions – working from initial design and consultation right through to manufacture of turnkey solutions and assistance with on-site installation. It boasts an impressive client portfolio working with the leading oil and gas, process and renewable energy operators, engineering houses and construction yards globally.
