Sandvik offers cost effective solutions to corrosion issues

Sandvik will use its presence at ADIPEC 2016 to promote the benefits of customer closeness when it comes to understanding the move to greater plant efficiency in refineries and petrochemical plant.

“Exhibitions and conferences, such as ADIPEC, give us the perfect platform to display our products and perhaps, more importantly, share the benefits that corrosion resistant alloys (CRAs) offer when refineries and petrochemical plants look for increased efficiencies,” explains Haydn Eagle, Sandvik Regional Sales Manager EMEA Tube. “Such materials not only offer longer operational cycles, but also real cost effective solutions”.

Nowhere more so is the drive for efficiency a greater priority than in the MENA region. While there are fewer new large projects being given the go-ahead, there is an increasing trend towards upgrading existing systems. The desire for greater plant efficiency is leading to customers specifying and installing superior grades of tubular products.

Sandvik recently added to its extensive range of CRAs with the introduction of Sanicro™ 60 seamless tubing for hydraulic and instrumentation and heat exchanger applications. Commonly known as Alloy 625, the grade is particularly suitable for installations in harsh environments.

This is providing Sandvik the opportunity to work even closer with its customers in the specification and selection of tube materials, particularly across the extensive range of corrosion resistant alloys, to ideally satisfy operating condition in oilfields, offshore and in refineries and petrochemical plants. Working together with its local business partner Trizac Abu Dhabi Oilfield Supplies, ensures Sandvik successfully understands its customers and the local market material requirements.

Offshore, Sandvik products for topside, subsea or downhole oil and gas applications are designed to increase productivity. The latest lightweight, high strength duplex, super duplex and high alloy materials have superior corrosion resistance, making it possible to design and install lighter, stronger and longer lasting tubular products and slicklines. Just last month a new, state-of-the-art, fully automated ultrasonic testing facility for OCTG tubes for the oil and gas industry was opened at the company’s plant in Sandviken, Sweden. The new facility allows Sandvik to meet and exceed customer requirements placing it in a world leading position as a manufacturer of OCTG tubing.

Also, recently introduced the Sandvik Business Team offers customers a greatly expanded range of services and support, unique to the industry, from testing and assessment, through to problem solving and service solutions.

As well as traditional markets Sandvik focuses on new developing markets, such as the energy sector and is fully involved with Fight Fake Products, an industry initiative to help combat counterfeiting within the tube and pipe industry.
